Social media giant FACEBOOK has changed its name to META, which came from the word Metaverse. In Oct 2021, the CEO of Facebook, Mr. Mark Zuckerberg has announced the news about the company’s rebranding at the company’s annual developer’s conference ” Connect 2021 “. On this updated new platform Meta, people will be able to connect, communicate and grow their business in a completely new way using the latest VR/AR technologies. According to the company, the metaverse is the next evolution of social connection and Meta aims to bring metaverse to life.

What Is Called The Metaverse?

Metaverse practically doesn’t exist yet as it’s a conception of a highly immersive virtual world where people can communicate, socialize and work together. Neal Stephenson used the term, and created a vision of a “computer-generated universe,” in his 1992 novel ‘Snow Crashd’. Metaverse is not a reality yet, but it could be the advanced version of the next-level internet. The word ‘meta’ came from a Greek word that means ‘beyond’. So the metaverse experience is an expansion of our visible reality to the virtual 3D environment.

How Meta Will Differ From Facebook?

The implementation of virtual reality ( VR ) tools on Meta, is the basic difference from using Facebook. Similar to science fiction movies, users can find them in a virtual 3d environment and create their digital avatars. The representation of people would be in digital avatars. Users can even decorate their own virtual place, meet with people in holographic form, or even participate in virtual concerts and events all from their own homes. Also, safety and privacy will be built from the beginning of this platform.
